Redgar Ashten is a man who - little by little - has found himself reborn anew. Redgar's obtained many skills throughout his career as an adventurer; He is a dab hand with knives, fighting like a rogue first and foremost, though he's also gained access to some ninjutsu and ninja techniques while studying in Doma. Owing to his time in Limsa, he also knows how to maintain and wield firearms.Most recently, he has begun studying the way of the Dark Knight, though he strives to keep this knowledge non-public - the days of crying heresy are over in Ishgard, but that doesn't mean the arts are met with grace.Outside of combat, Red is a competent survivalist and ex-thief, meaning he's quiet and cunning when he needs to be.

Here are some hooks you can use to get started!

  • Criminal Origins: Despite being mostly reformed - and far happier for it - Redgar has run with some sketchy elements in the past. Perhaps you knew him when he was a touch more violent?

  • Scarred Aether: If your character has a means by which to see Red's aether, they might notice that it's very much damaged, like a broken bone that's set wrong. While I don't intend to 'fix' this part of his character at the moment, it's observable!

  • Odd Jobs: Redgar is always looking for work, and while he isn't an enforcer anymore, his sketchier contacts make him useful for the less-than-legal.

  • Farmboy: If you grew up in Thanlan, you might have met Red when he was around the age of 16-17, a farmhand in a fairly large family in rural Thanlan, before the calamity. You could barely recognise him nowadays.

  • Just a poor boy: You might have known Red when he was only a year or two older than that, growing up on the harsh streets of Ul'dah.

  • Limsan Ruffmans: Maybe you recognise Red from his days as a Limsan criminal, too - he's not wanted, per se, but the yellowjackets definitely keep an eye on him whenever he comes back around.

  • Adventurer: Redgar is an Adventurer, now! Do you have work for him, or just need a bodyguard to go exploring with?
